Fostering Canada-Europe Transatlantic Dialogues

Andrew Griffith is the former Director General at the Department of Citizenship and Immigration and the author of "Multiculturalism in Canada: Evidence and Anecdote".
His work provides insight into how well multiculturalism works in Canada. In his interview series (three clips) with EUCAnet, Mr. Griffith touches on various themes regarding migration and border issues.

In the first short interview, Andrew Griffith focuses on immigration and multiculturalism in the Canadian context "Immigration, Multiculturalism: What works and doesn’t work in Canada"  In this video, Mr. Griffith underlines the importance of how we discuss the issue of migration in public discourse. The second video on "Challenges for the traditional concept of borders" touches on structural factors that challenge the traditional national concept of borders (due to market-based supply chains on the internet, changes to travel habits/communication and the influence of social media). Furthermore, Mr. Griffith elaborates on the public perception of how governments in the EU or Canada handle the irregular crossing of borders. The last video focuses on "What can Canada learn from the way in which Europe deals with irregular migration".

These video clips were produced during the Borders in Globalization conference in Ottawa, December 2017.
