Preece is a Policy Analyst at Health Canada and former Social Science and Humanities Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow in the department of Political Science at Carleton University.  His first book, Dismantling Social Europe: The Political Economy of Social Policy in the European Union (FirstForumPress/ Lynne Rienner Publishers, 2009) examined the contemporary debate over social policy in the European Union and the impact this debate has had on the welfare policies within the member-states.
