Tortola, Pier Domenico
Dr. Pier Domenico Tortola is Associate Professor of European Politics at the University of Groningen (Netherlands), where he also directs the Democracy and Governance research theme of the Rudolf Agricola School. His research focuses on European politics and institutions, multilevel governance, and the connections between knowledge, expertise, and democratic politics. Dr. Tortola has led and contributed to numerous international research projects and collaborates widely with scholars across Europe. Within the Mnemonic Democracy project, he contributes expertise on the uses and abuses of historical memory in contemporary Italian politics, and their effects on the country’s democratic practices and institutions.
