Korycki, Kate

Dr. Kate Korycki is Assistant Professor in the Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies at Western University, Canada. Her research examines collective memory, nationalism, gender, and the politics of historical remembrance in Central and Eastern Europe, with a particular focus on Poland. She is the author of Weaponizing the Past: Collective Memory and Jews, Poles, and Communists in Twenty-First Century Poland (Berghahn Books), which was shortlisted for the Memory Studies Association Best First Book Award. Her work explores the intersections of memory politics, identity, democratic contestation, and historical justice. Within the Mnemonic Democracy project, she contributes expertise on memory politics, gender, and the role of contested histories in shaping democratic cultures.
