Schwarz, Oliver

Oliver Schwarz is researcher and Lecturer for European Integration and Politics at the Institute of Political Science, University Duisburg-Essen (Germany). He is the Coordinator of the Mentoring Programme for the BA Political Science, the Coordinator of the Jean Monnet Module EUMPC and the Co-Chair of the Duisburg Brranch of the Südosteuropa-Gesellschaft (SOG). Olivers research focuses on European Integration, processes of Europeanisation and the EU as a global and regional actor in security and peace. He studied Political Science at the University of DuisburgEssen with minors in Psychology and Law. Between 2005 and 2007, he took part in the research project “Conflict settlement through Europeanisation?” and conducted extensive fieldwork in Greece, Macedonia and Turkey during that time. His dissertation with the title  “Enlargement as an all-purpose tool of the European Union? The Europeanisation of the Western Balkans since EU’s Eastern enlargement” was published by Nomos in 2010. Since 2005, Oliver is member of the Southeast Europe Association (Südosteuropa Gesellschaft, SOG). The SOG is an organisation that seeks to bridge political debate with scientific dialogue and socio-cultural exchange about Southeast Europe.
