Dr. Thénault is a research director at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), which is part of a joint effort with the University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne to create the Center for the Social History of Contemporary Worlds (CHS). Her research focuses on Algeria and the Algerian war of independence specifically on law and repression within that region. She is interested in ideas of internment during 1830-1962 in Algeria, nationalism and indigenous peoples in the region.

Dr. Albanese is an professor of Modern History at the University of Padova. She is the coordinator of the PhD in Historical, Geographical and Anthropological Studies of the Universities of Padua and Ca’ Foscari Venezia. She is a graduate of the University of Venice, Ca’ Foscari and received her  PhD from the Eui, in Florence. Her research focuses on fascism, political violence and authoritarianism in Europe.

Alina Cherviatsova is as a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Research Fellow at the Human Rights Center, Ghent University. Prior to this, Dr. Cherviatsova was an associate professor for comparative public law, human rights, and international law of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (Ukraine) and a coordinator of three Jean Monnet Modules. Melissa Haussman is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Carleton. She teaches in both the US and comparative North American fields. Her research focuses on women’s access to political power in North America. It has centered on women’s ability to gender public policy and related debates, especially on reproductive rights and health care systems. She is particularly interested in the roles played by federalism and supranational mechanisms in affording either opportunities or barriers to women’s policy successes.
